Dec. 1—NEW LONDON — The New London High School Jazz Band kicked off the opening of the high school's $110 million extension and renovation of its Multi-Magnet Campus on Friday afternoon.
The school educates 1,257 students in grades K-8. In the 2022–23 school year, 804 students were enrolled in the elementary program (K-5) and 453 in the middle school (6–8). [1] [2] In 2011, the school moved to the former E.E. Waddell High School and changed its name to E.E. Waddell Language Academy.
The school was promoted to full magnet status in 1982. Until the mid-1990s, Enloe was the only magnet high school in the Wake County Public School System, leading to a high concentration of academically talented students. The 1993 graduating class included 42 National Merit Semifinalists, a number that remains a state record.

Arabic Immersion Magnet School (AIMS) is a magnet school in the Montrose area of Houston, Texas. A part of the Houston Independent School District (HISD), it currently covers elementary school grades. It uses a grant from the Qatar Foundation, [1] and it is one of the first Arabic language immersion schools in the United States. [2]
