The Defence Services Technological Academy was established as the Defence Services Institute of Technology (DSIT) on 1 February 1993 at Pyin Oo Lwin [1] when all civilian colleges and universities in Myanmar were shut down by the military government, following the 1988 nationwide uprising.
The academy was founded in 2000 to provide a classical and technology-based approach to education in a public school setting. ATC was the third charter school established in Santa Fe, and the first in the city to open its doors to both middle and high school students.
