Ben Silbermann (born July 14, 1982) is an American Internet entrepreneur. [1] He is the co-founder and executive chairman of Pinterest, a visual discovery engine [2] which lets users organize images, links, recipes and other things.
Pinterest is an American social media service for publishing and discovery of information [6] in the form of pinboards. [7] This includes recipes, home, style, motivation, and inspiration on the Internet using image sharing. [8] Pinterest, Inc. was founded by Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra, and Evan Sharp, [5] and is headquartered in San Francisco.
Sharp met Ben Silbermann in New York through a mutual friend in 2009 and they immediately connected over their love of the Internet. [11][12] Together with third cofounder Paul Sciarra, the three built the very first version of Pinterest from a small apartment in New York City on West 103rd Street. [13]
Career Sciarra worked at the venture capital firm Radius Ventures, LLC. In 2003 he quit his job, along with Ben Silbermann, to create Cold Brew Labs. [2] That same year, Sciarra, Silbermann and Evan Sharp launched Pinterest, and Sciarra became the President and CEO. [3][2] In 2012, he left the company but remained on as an advisor. [4][5][6]
