Howard West (September 24, 1931 – December 3, 2015) was an American talent agent and television producer best known for his work with long-term partner George Shapiro in producing and managing Jerry Seinfeld . West and Shapiro, who were childhood friends in the Bronx, were partners in the company Shapiro/West and Associates.
Shapiro is an on-line lecturer for Torah in Motion, for which he also leads Jewish history tours to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Germany, Italy, Central Europe, Morocco, and Tunisia. He often writes for the Seforim Blog. Shapiro has been a resident of West Orange, New Jersey. [1]
Shapiro was born in the Bronx on May 18, 1931, to Sylvia (née Lebost) and Ira Shapiro. His father worked as a furrier and his mother was a social activist. He first met his future business partner, Howard West, in the third grade. When Shapiro was 12, Carl Reiner married Shapiro's aunt, Estelle Lebost, and became his uncle.
