Advanced Placement ( AP) Calculus (also known as AP Calc, Calc AB / BC, AB / BC Calc or simply AB / BC) is a set of two distinct Advanced Placement calculus courses and exams offered by the American nonprofit organization College Board.
A typical sequence of secondary-school (grades 6 to 12) courses in mathematics reads: Pre-Algebra (7th or 8th grade), Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-calculus, and Calculus or Statistics.
The College Level Examination Program is a group of standardized tests created and administered by the College Board. [3] These tests assess college-level knowledge in thirty-six subject areas and provide a mechanism for earning college credits without taking college courses.
The College Board is making changes to this algebra-based course and exam for the 2024-2025 school year.
This rollout will begin with the Algebra I exam in June 2024, followed by Geometry, Earth and Space Sciences, and Life Science: Biology in June 2025 and Algebra II, Chemistry, Physics, and English Language Arts in June 2026.
