Sojourner Truth (/ soʊˈdʒɜːrnər, ˈsoʊdʒɜːrnər /; [1] born Isabella Baumfree; c. 1797 – November 26, 1883) was an American abolitionist and activist for African-American civil rights, women's rights, and alcohol temperance.
