Levine Blues Jam Night

Levine Blues Jam Nights are dedicated to creating opportunities for musicians of any level to hang out in a relaxed environment while discussing techniques and methods behind blues performance as well as performing publicly in an open mike jam session.
The first 45-60 minutes of the Blues Jam will be for beginners or those who would like a refresher on the 12 bar blues form, taught by Levine guitar instructor Gary Prince. Topics covered include: recognizing your place in the form aurally during live performance, voicings and strumming patterns for guitarists to use, as well as well-used intros and outros that blues musicians use to start and end the blues. If there is time we will incorporate a small listening session to point out the discussion points.
From 8-9pm, we will have a rotating jam session for musicians of all levels (more advanced players may want to join us at 8). We welcome vocalists, drummers, bassists, and horn players.
Refreshments will be provided. We welcome beginners as well as advanced musicians of any age. Just bring your instrument (note: if bringing an electric guitar/bass, we have some amps but only a limited number so you may want to bring your own amp). Looking forward to seeing you there!
Cost: Free for current Levine students; $5 for non-Levine students
