Toxic industries and polluted waste sites are disproportionately located near and in low-income and minority communities all over the United States and throughout the world. A critical component of environmental justice is the idea that all citizens have a right to a healthy environment, no matter what their ethnicity or socioeconomic status. In addition to air pollution and unhealthy ground water, the potential for accidents is ever present.
