Build'em And Bust'em Bridge Building Competition

Teams of two or three students in grades 4 through 12 will be participating in one of three levels. Category 1 teams (grades 4-6) and Category 2 teams (grades 7-8) will design and build a bridge. Category 3 teams (grades 9-12) will design and build a bridge and/or a crane. The teams must make their bridge/crane out of balsa wood and other materials provided. The teams will have worked on these bridges for weeks to exact specifications. Builders must follow all specifications or risk disqualification.
On the day of the event, faculty, staff and students from the L.C. College of Engineering and Computer Science along with engineering professionals will weigh and stress the structures to their breaking points, attempting to "bust 'em" and winners will be chosen in each category.
