Jeffrey OSBORNE's newest CD, "Music Is Life," marked the artist's 30th year since the release of his very first album as the drummer for the R&B band he fronted, L.T.D. (Love, Togetherness and Devotion) in 1973. Jeffrey has been on the pop music scene since 1976 when L.T.D. broke through with the Billboard R&B #1/pop #20 hit, "Love Ballad." OSBORNE's voice was the center of a series of gold and platinum L.T.D. albums, including "Love To The World," "Something to Love," "Togetherness and Devotion" and the funky 1977 barn burning single, "Back In Love Again."
In 1982 Osborne left L.T.D. to pursue a solo career with hit R&B/pop classics including "I Really Don't Need No Light," "Stay With Me Tonight," "We're Going All The Way," "The Last Time I Made Love," "Only Human," and "On The Wings of Love."
OSBORNE is the official singer of the National Anthem for NBA champions the Los Angeles Lakers and the most in-demand singer of the Anthem in the history of professional sports. Osborne has sung the anthem for the Oakland Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers for over twenty years, and at most heavyweight championship fights.
RUBEN Studdard won the second season title of "American Idol" over Clay Aiken by only 134,000 votes out of over 24 million cast. Ruben started singing Gospel at church at age three and grew up listening to Donny Hathaway and Fred Hammond as well as gospel music. After college he sang with a jazz and R & B group called Just a Few Cats. A backup singer from the band asked Ruben to go with her to Nashville to audition for American Idol in 2003. After singing "Ribbon in the Sky" by Stevie Wonder at the audition, Studdard made the local finals. He performed songs by music legends Lionel Richie, Neil Sedaka, and Luther Vandros.
RUBEN's first single, "Flying Without Wings," debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Advance orders for his debut album, "Soulful," topped the 1 million mark before it was released and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Studdard received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Male R & B Vocal Performance. In 2004, Ruben won the Naacp Outstanding New Artist award and released the gospel album, "I Need an Angel," and sold over 96,000 copies in its first week. It entered the Gospel charts at #1, #20 on the Billboard 200, and was #1 on the 2005 Billboard Year-End Gospel Albums Chart.
