The Seacoast Science Center, located in Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, NH is a flagship institution in the region's cultural economy. A popular destination for families and students to learn about coastal environmental history, the Center's mission is: to create connections to nature through personal experience. That mission is met by providing engaging and interactive programs and exhibits. Each year, over 60,000 people visit the Center, 15,000 of whom are students from throughout New England.
The Center offers a wide range of exhibits and programs that appeal to all ages, backgrounds and learning styles. From the pre-K Treks-4-Tots program to the winter Heritage Dinner Series, from nature walks to expedition travel, there is something for everyone!
With seven distinctly different habitats just outside the Center's door, and a diversity of live animals that inhabit the aquaria and terraria, the Center's educators are prepared to deliver an array of unique programs.
The $1M Gregg Interactive Learning Studio opened in 2007. Thanks to the two-way communication technology that is at the Studio's core, the Center is a full-service content provider of innovative, high-quality distance learning experiences, reaching students throughout the state and across the country. That technology also enables us to reach around the globe. Now a partner with Freedom Calls, the Center is able to provide live, two-way broadcasts between American military personnel serving overseas with their family members here at home.
