Coheed and Cambria

Coheed and Cambria is a emo rock band formed in Nyack, NY in 1995 under the name "Shabütie" until 2001. The band was formed by vocalist/guitarist Claudio Sanchez and lead guitarist Travis Stever. A year later the band added Michael Todd, initially a guitarist, who switchws to the bass in order to join the band.

In 2001 the band decided to change their name to "Coheed and Cambria" after two characters from a comic book series created by Sanchez. The band signed to Equal Vision Records and in 2002 released their first studio album "The Second Stage Turbine Blade." The band toured extensively to support it with bands like Linkin Park, Slipknot and the Used.

The band would return with their second album in 2003 "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3." The band continued to tour a lot with bands such as Thursday, Thrice and AFI. The album peaked at #52 on the charts and eventually certified gold by the RIAA. The commercial success of this album earned them a major, multi-album deal with recording giants Columbia Records.

The band took a break from touring to record their first major label, which dropped in 2005 called "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness." Good Apollo has proven to be their most successful album to date, selling nearly one million copies and peaking at #7 on the US Billboard Hot 200.

The band's fourth album "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow," dropped in 2007 and although it has not has the same commercial as their first Columbia Records release, but they continued to do well and tour globally into and through 2009. The band is in the pre-stages of releasing their fifth studio album, tentatively due to be released in 2010.
