An accomplished musician, actress, model, author, and playwright, Helena Noguerra was born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1969. Her parents were Portuguese immigrants, and their daughter's talent for learning multiple languages was sparked at an early age. Lio, Helena's older half-sister, became a French pop star during her teenage years, and Helena subsequently relocated to Paris to enjoy her own success as a teenaged model. Forays into film, radio, and television followed, and Helena tentatively entered the musical arena in 1989, releasing a single entitled "Lunettes Noires" and, nine years later, singing two songs on Ollano's debut album. 1998 also marked the proper launch of Helena's solo career as she released the moderately successful Bikini. After signing with Sunnyside Records, she returned in 2001 with Azul, an album that combined dusky vocals with bossa nova rhythms. Helena's first novel, L'ennemi est á l'interiéur, was published the following year, and she continued her diverse career as a French media sensation by releasing Née Dans la Nature in 2004, Bang! Dillinger Girl & Baby Face Nelson in 2005, and Fraise Vanille (a tribute to Serge Rezvani) in 2007. ~ Andrew Leahey, All Music Guide
