The Levisa River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will honor World War II veterans at the annual “Veterans Appreciation Luncheon” on Saturday, November 7, 2009. The chapter is soliciting the help of the community in this worthwhile project to honor America’s greatest generation of soldiers. The chapter plans to do a video tribute of soldiers born and raised in Buchanan County or ones who lived or died in the county. Do you have family members living or deceased who served during World War II? Would you be willing to share your family’s information with the chapter?
In order to prepare a video tribute for these soldiers the chapter is requesting families submit the following information, the soldier’s complete name and a brief description of his/her service. Include in this description (1) a picture (preferably in uniform), (2) number of years served, (3) the branch of service, (4) rank, (5) location (ex. United States, Germany, South Pacific…), (6) battles of combat ( Pearl Harbor, Normandy) and other pertinent information (POW). The chapter is requesting that the person submitting the information include his/her name, address, and telephone number in case information needs to be verified.
The committee organizing the presentation will be careful to ensure your family’s history is returned in a timely fashion. Please submit your information by October 1, 2009 to one of the following committee members:
