The Jewish struggle for civil rights in the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam and, subsequently, in New York remains an emblematic case study in America's history of diversity. Join Dr. Gary Zola, Executive Director of the American Jewish Archives and Professor of The American Jewish Experience at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, as he sheds light on the historical contributions of North America's original Jewish community. "Jews in New Amsterdam" is presented in conjunction with Susan Kathryn Hefti and the John L. Loeb, Jr. Foundation, and in association with the exhibition The Flushing Remonstrance: Who Shall Plead for Us? at the Flushing Library.
