From red-hot steel to polished gold, visitors will experience the full range of imagination and craftsmanship in the work of the fifth annual “Texas Metal Arts – A Festival in Gruene”, featuring forty Texas artists. The metal work, including fine jewelry, decorative art pieces, sculpture, fun garden pieces, and functional objects will be exhibited at this show and sale.
These Texas metal artists, including blacksmiths, bronze sculptors, tinsmiths, silversmiths, steel sculptors, and goldsmiths will each present their creations. Ongoing demonstrations will reveal the wide range of intricate skills and techniques used by these metal workers. Visitors will be able to watch jewelers forming and assembling gold and silver, blacksmiths making functional objects with a hot forge, hammer and anvil, and sculptors cutting steel for large works of art. Metal of all kinds will be cut, hammered, riveted, soldered, welded, painted, polished, and embellished. It will be a “Red Hot n’ Hammered” weekend!
The festival will be held in the heart of Gruene, the beautiful, historic district of New Braunfels on the banks of the Guadalupe River. Be sure to visit the unique stores, a variety of local restaurants, and Gruene Hall, Texas’ oldest dance hall. The E Flat Porch Band will play on the festival grounds both days. Gruene is located in New Braunfels just off IH 35. Take IH 35 to Exit 191 (Canyon Lake, FM 306), go west 1.5 miles, turn left at the traffic light on to Hunter Road and go one half mile to Gruene.
