Rose Colored Glass by S. Bigelow & J. Goldberg

Its Chicago, July 1938, and two disparate worlds are about to collide. Lady ORiley, an Irish immigrant, operates Ladys Pub, and across the alley Rose Fleishman, a more recent Austrian immigrant, runs Roses Deli. Peg, Ladys 13-year-old granddaughter, has decided that these two very different women will become friends; but it is not until they become collaborators on a project to rescue Rose Fleishmans nephew from war torn Europe that they have a chance at real friendship.
