Walk our trails measuring just under three miles for a glimpse of Illinois as it once was. Douglas Hart Nature Center offers the three main habitats of Illinois: prairie, woodlands and wetlands. After your hike, stop at the the Visitor Center; open seven days a week. The cener features interpretive exhibits, sensory displays, and live critters to be enjoyed by individuals of all ages. A bird observation area and library allows you to enjoy birds and other critters close up. The Discovery Den is a popular place just for kids! Children are invited to explore, play, and have a good time with our bat cave, puppet show area, x-ray machine, camping area, and toys.A picnic area is available for visitors on a first-come, first-served basis.
