WOJB and the Park Theatre team up for another exciting triplebill July 11, featuring Southern California punk trio Bloodhook, Twin City rockers The 757s, and a return appearance at the Park by The Alrights from Duluth.
Bloodhook, led by former Hayward musician Adam Fuller, brings their incendiary live set to the Park Theatre, 15791 U.S. Highway 63, downtown Hayward, WI as part of a North American tour promoting their independently produced and selfreleased debut album, Bloodhook. Fuller, guitarist and lead singer, engineered and produced the album. The band's lineup also includes bassist Bonnie Buitrago and drummer Dusty Watson, whose resumé includes surf music giant Dick Dale. More info at www.myspace.com/bloodhook.
The 757s have revived the noholdsbarred classic loud Minnesota rock ethos that a generation ago propelled the Twin Cities music scene to national prominence with bands like Hüsker Dü, The Replacements and Soul Asylum. All of the band members are Twin Cities music scene veterans: guitarist/singer Jimmy Peterson from Bellwether and Missing Numbers; bassist/singer Paul Pirner of Mosquito Ranch (and brother to Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum), guitarist/singer Seth Zimmerman of Tangletown (nephew of Bob Dylan...Seth's father, Dave Zimmerman, arranged the Minneapolis recording sessions for Dylan's Blood on the Tracks); and drummer Steve Sutherland of Grant Hart's postHüsker Dü project Nova Mob. The 757s are touring to promote their sophomore album, Freeway Surrender. More info at www.the757s.com.
Returning to the Park stage are Duluth's The Alrights (lead vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Toby Churchill; bassist/harmony vocalist Danny Cosgrove; and drummer Chad "Chavo" Amborn), who have developed a diverse sound...by turns Cabaretlike, sophisticatedly soulful and garagerock raw. In 2005, The Alrights signed to New York City record label City Canyons, rereleasing their debut album High School. Since then they've released an acclaimed EP, 2007's Meeting of the St. Louis County League of Volunteer Astronauts: Excerpts from the Keynote Address and a pair of digital singles, "How Long" in 2008, and this year's "Getting Ready For Love."
