The Lumberjack volleyball team makes its home in the Joseph C. Rolle Activity Center on the south side of the NAU campus. The facility offers four complete volleyball courts, or three regulation basketball courts. At match time, Rolle is set up with one court in the center surrounded on all four sides by VIP sponsorship tables and bleachers, which seat up to 1,066 fans. This "Lumberjack Court" arrangement with the sponsors' tables went into effect in time for the 1996 season. The site is the annual home for the Fiesta Bowl Volleyball Tournament hosted by NAU, featuring some of the best collegiate volleyball teams nationwide.
While serving as the volleyball headquarters, Rolle is also used by the NAU men's and women's basketball teams as a practice facility and a home arena for games during the early season when the NAU football team is still competing and using the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome. The facility is used for open recreation and intramurals, and it houses the NAU men's volleyball club team.
The arena has also served as the training-camp home for the Phoenix Suns of the NBA and the WNBA Phoenix Mercury.
The gym was dedicated in the name of Dr. Joseph C. Rolle for his contributions as both an administrator and a professor at NAU.
