Whether you visit the State to take in a live performance in the Plum Alley Theater or attend a social event in the First Federal Gallery, you'll agree that there's no finer facility in Elizabethtown.
Opening as a movie house in 1942, the State Theater was once the hub of social activity in Hardin County. After showing its final film, ET, in 1982, the building languished as an empty eyesore for several years. But because of a community that cares, the new State includes a 3,700 square-foot Gallery that has become home to art displays, weddings, parties, receptions and corporate events. The Plum Alley Theater is the area's finest “black-box” style theater, seating 220 for live performing arts, such as music, dance, drama, comedy, and more. As Phase III is finished, the Old State Theater will be completely resurrected into the majestic palace of its heyday, with seating for more than 700 in all of its original 1942 grandeur.
