Barleycorn has been a neighborhood mainstay since the early 1960s, though the building has housed multiple taverns since the late-19th Century (including a speakeasy during Prohibition). In the 21st Century, the focus is sports – there are a dozen 50-inch flat-screen TVs and three large projection screens showing both college and pro teams. Barleycorn boasts one of the best beer gardens in the city with seating for 150, plus there are 50 seats on a seasonal sidewalk café. The broad menu offers everything from beer-battered fish and chips to gourmet half-pound burgers to hickory-smoked baby-back ribs. The nautically inspired interior features boat-themed artifacts and an impressive collection of handmade model ships.
