Faculty Recital - All Bloch

Commemorating the life and work of Ernest Bloch, CIM's first director, part of a celebration of the 50th anniversary of his death.

Featuring Marisela Sager, flute, guest artist; James Umble, alto saxophone, guest artist; Joel Smirnoff, Joan Kwuon and Peter Salaff violins; Stephen Warner, violin, guest artist; Mark Yee and Charles Bernard, cellos, guest artists; Carolyn Warner, piano. Also the CIM Student String Quartet.

The program includes Bloch's Quintet No.1 for Piano and Strings; Suite Modale for Flute and Piano; Baal Stem "Three Pictures of Chassidic Life" for Violin and Piano; "From Jewish Life" for Cello and Piano; Poems of the Sea (transcribed for) Alto Saxophone, Violin and Piano; Prelude (1925), String Quartet; Night, Strin Quartet.
