As Atlanta’s home to dinosaurs, Fernbank Museum of Natural History is a gateway for discovery and exploration, unfolding the fascinating stories of the earth’s history, the physical universe, the natural world and human culture.
Begin your prehistoric adventure in the brand new Dinosaur Plaza at the Museum’s entrance, where you’ll encounter a family of hadrosaurs that roamed Georgia over 70 million years ago. Inside, you’ll stand among the world’s largest dinosaurs in Giants of the Mesozoic, which features the 123-foot-long, plant-eating Argentinosaurus and the 47-foot-long, meat-eating Giganotosaurus. Then travel through time as you explore the fossil record of the Appalachian Mountains, Okefenokee Swamp, Atlantic coast and other modern regions of the state in A Walk Through Time in Georgia. Fun for the whole family awaits in Sensing Nature, where your senses are put to the test, even showing how they can trick you into seeing things that aren’t real!
Highlights also include the five-story IMAX® Theatre, Children's Discovery Rooms, the Naturalist Center, Reflections of Culture, the Star Gallery, traveling exhibitions, fossil floors, Museum Store, and a Cafe with a view into a 65-acre hardwood forest.
Adults won't want to miss Martinis & IMAX, held Fridays from January through November, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. with live jazz, cocktails, a dinner menu, dancing and evening screenings of IMAX films.
