New York based singer-songwriter, Lucy Kaplansky, returns to The Space once again. While her 2004 release, The Red Thread is about her journey to adopt her daughter, Molly, from China, Over the Hills (2007) tells the story of how her family came to America and the struggles they endured. Hailed as "a truly gifted performer...with a bag full of enchanting songs" Kaplansky started out in high school singing in Chicago bars, later moving to New York City where she discovered a fertile community of songwriters and performers. With a flair for harmony and a "luminous" voice, she became everyone's favorite singing partner- in duo with Shawn Colvin as well as with Nanci Griffith, and John Gorka. Convinced that her calling was elsewhere, she left the music scene and became a psychologist working with chronically mentally ill adults. The music business called her back however and she released The Tide, on Red House Records. She has recorded five critically acclaimed, award winning CDs and appeared on the CBS Morning Show, NPR's Weekend and Morning Editions, Mountain Stage, and Acoustic Cafe. Drawing from influences as diverse as the Beatles and Victor Borge, songwriter and pianist Lee Feldman is an American pop artist whose songs can be both quirky and profound. A life-long resident of New York, he studies and performs jazz, classical and experimental music and has released three critically acclaimed albums, including Living It All Wrong ; The Man in a Jupiter Hat and his more recent, I've Forgotten Everything. Feldman is also the creator of Starboy, an animated musical about a 2-dimensional superhero who lives with his uncle, a mathematician.
